Curtis Park Real Estate
Located just south of downtown Sacramento, Curtis Park is a town unto itself. Pure gumption brought this community together, which thrives with the Sierra 2 Center for the Arts and Community – the heart of Curtis Park.
Residents originally came together in the 1970s to save a school and subsequently created the center. Its offerings aren’t your run of the mill yoga and mahjong, although those are undoubtedly offered. There’s belly dance to sword school and songwriting to spiritual services. Tenants include local dance companies, catering firms and other community-based organizations. The center itself is beautiful – an Andalusian/Spanish revival stucco building sitting on three acres of lush landscaped grounds and adjacent to Sierra Green Park.
The center is run by the Sierra Curtis Neighborhood Association, which drives their community spirit and camaraderie with numerous events. A Spring Egg Hunt, Home and Garden Tour, Music in the Park, Curtis Fest Artisan Festival, Wine Tasting in the Park, neighborhood dinners, and special film showings are just a sample of the signature gatherings in Curtis Park.
Community pride is huge here, and it starts with the homes. There’s a reason its home and garden show is one of Sacramento’s most popular. Built in the early 1900s, the homes are classic, elegant and varying in style – ranging from Spanish revival and storybook to Tudor and craftsman.
While numerous commercial amenities conveniently surround the roughly 2,500-home hamlet, Curtis Park is largely residential. The few businesses that have made a home in the area have thrived – in no small part to local pride and support. Favorite spots include Café Dantorels, Gunther’s Ice Cream, and College Cyclery.
